3.2 Type 1. Copper floats shall be equipped with metallic receptors 0.250-20 UNC-2B internal threads in accordance with ANSI Y14.6 for acceptance of float rods with 0.250-20 UNC-2A external threads.
3.3 Type 2. Plastic floats shall be equipped with plastic receptors 0.250-20 UNC-2B internal threads in accordance with ANSI Y14.6 for acceptance of float rods with 0.250-20 UNC-2A external threads , or shall be self-threading at the manufacturer’s option.
3.4 Workmanship. The valve floats shall have no sharp edges, slivers, burrs, deep scratches, or tool marks. Hollow floats shall not leak. The floats shall have no defect which affects the serviceability, durability, or appearance.
3.5 Measurement system. The valves stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric values stated in parentheses are for information purposes only.
3.6 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, shall conform to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and shall be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof such conformance.
