Test Impact.
Testing shall withstand a designated impact without cracking or fracturing when a spherically faced dart of no more than a 2-inch radii is dropped on the test sample.
Seats shall be tested separately and shall withstand an impact of 30-ft-lbs. when impacted midway between the support provided by the front bumpers and the support the hinges provide at the rear.
Covers shall be tested, assembled to the seat and shall withstand an impact of 20-ft-lbs. at the geometric center. Test set-up shall be similar to the seat test.
Test Load.
Open or closed seats shall be set up similar to the method described under Impact Testing. A 300 lb. load shall be applied equally to both sides of the seat at the midpoint between the hinge and front bumper and held for one minute before release. After two hours relaxation at the point of contact to the flat surface, calculate the permanent set-not to exceed 1/10 inch.
Corrosion. Hinges shall be tested for corrosion in accordance with ASTM B 117 for a 24 hour period.
Workmanship. Seats shall have no sharp edges, silvers, burrs, deep scratches, tool marks or other defects which might affect serviceability; durability or appearance.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking.
The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
