COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
VALVE, INLET, ANTISIPHON (WATER CLOSET)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers water inlet valves of antisiphon design for use with a standard size water closet tank.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Construction. Inlet valves shall be of the antisiphon type made of corrosion-resistant materials throughout and designed for mounting in a standard 14-inch (355.6 mm) water closet tank. The valve shall provide for connection to a 3/8-inch (9.5 mm) supply tube. Flow and shut-off of the water shall be controlled by the valve in response to the water level in the tank. Each valve shall be provided with the following items:
a) Inlet valve tank gasket.
b) Shank coupling nut.
c) Bevel slip joint washer.
d) Friction ring.
e) Supply coupling.
f) Refill tube.
2.2 Float-rod receptors. Inlet valve designed for use with float rods shall be furnished with an 8-inch (203.2 mm) float rod in accordance with CID A-A-249. Float-rod receptors in such valves shall have 0.250-20 UNC-2B internal threads in accordance with ANSI Y14.6.
2.3 Performance. Inlet valves shall meet the performance requirements of ASSE 1002.
