COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STOPPER, WASTE DRAIN
The General Services Administration has authorized the use
of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers waste drain stoppers for use for use with sinks, bath, and laundry tubs.
2. CLASSIFICATION
2.1 Classification. The stoppers shall be of the following size, as specified (see 7.2).
Size – 1 inch (25.4 mm)
Size – 1-1/8 inch (28.5 mm)
Size – 1-1/4 inch (31.7 mm)
Size- 1-3/8 inch (34.9 mm)
Size – 1-1/2 inch (38.1 mm)
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Standard product. Except as otherwise specified, stoppers covered by this commercial item description shall be the manufacturer’s standard commercial product. Materials not specifically specified shall be the quality used in commercial practice.
3.2 Construction. The stopper shall be of a one-piece solid rubber or suitable elastomeric material molded with a rubber post and provided with a stainless steel or copper alloy ring for attaching a chain.
3.2.1 Finish. The stopper ring shall be finished in accordance with the manufacturer’s commercial practice for stainless steel, or nickel plated for copper alloy.
