COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
ROD, TANK FLOAT, WATER CLOSET
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in lieu of Interim Federal Specification WW-V-001915.
Salient characteristics:
Lengths of rods shall be 8, 10 or 12 inches, as specified.
Tolerance on length shall be + 1/8 inch.
Diameter of rods shall be from .206 to .252 inches.
Ends of rods shall have .250-2OUNC-2A threads in accordance with ANSI Y14.6-1957.
Length of thread shall be 1 inch or greater at each end.
Rods shall be capable of being bent through a 120 degree angle without fracture on the outside of the bend.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered Materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The tank float rods shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
